Evaluating the use of activated carbon, ion exchange, and other media for water treatment is a crucial step to ensure project goals are achieved. There are a number of commonly employed methods for generating data and, while they can generate useful initial data, each presents its own limitations.
A small-scale pilot study at the site is the best way to overcome these limitations. A properly designed and operated pilot, yielding good analytical data, is helpful in designing the future full-scale filtration system.
