Project Profile: Shaw Air Force Base

Though highly effective at suppressing flames, firefighting foam has been shown to contaminate water sources. Its toxic impact is so severe more than half of U.S. states have proposed legislation that prohibits its use. Shaw Air Force Base has been conducting training exercises with this foam for more than 50 years.

The Air Force solicited a design-build effort with the help of AECOM, a Dallas-based engineering firm.

After reviewing proposals, AECOM selected AqueoUS Vets® as its partner based on our Concept to  Commission process. Together, we produced a reliable ion exchange (IX) resin treatment system that removes PFAS compounds from water sources, protecting military personnel and citizens alike.

How can we help with your environmental remediation requirements?

Sites impacted by historic PFAS pollution:

  • DOD/Military bases
  • Chemical production plants
  • Textile plants
  • Pulp & paper plants
  • Landfill operators
  • Metal platers
  • Semiconductor facilities
  • Commercial airports
  • Petrochemical facilities
